About 3 minutes Updated 8 September 2026

Before you start

A Google account with access

The Google account you sign in with needs at least read access to the Google Ads account you want reported on.

The account that runs the ads

Connect the account the campaigns actually live in, not the manager account above it. See the questions below if you work through a manager account.

Its customer ID to hand

Useful for picking the right one at the end when a login can reach several accounts with similar names.

Step by step

  1. 01

    Open Data in Blackbox

Sign in to Blackbox and click Data in the left menu, then Connect a channel at the top right.

The Data page in Blackbox with the Connect a channel button at the top right
  2. 02

    Pick Google Ads

Open the Provider dropdown and choose Google Ads, then click Connect.

  3. 03

    Approve on the Google screen

A Google window opens. Choose the account that has access to your Google Ads account and approve the request. Google asks for ongoing access so reporting can refresh without you signing in again each day.

  4. 04

Choose the accounts for this brand

Back in Blackbox you see the Google Ads accounts that login can reach. Tick the ones belonging to this brand and save.

  5. 05

    That's it

The connector shows as connected and the last 30 days of campaigns and spend load.

Blackbox can read

  • Your campaigns and ad groups, and their spend, impressions, clicks and conversions
  • Daily performance history for trends and period comparisons
  • The account names and currencies, so figures are labelled correctly

Blackbox will not

  • Change a budget, pause, resume or create anything unless you approve that change in Blackbox first
  • Reach accounts you did not tick
  • See anything in Google Analytics, Search Console or your Google account beyond Google Ads

If something doesn't work

I use a manager (MCC) account. What should I connect?
Connect the account the campaigns run in. Blackbox treats each account it is given as a standalone account, so if you only see the manager in the list, the login has access to the manager but not to the account beneath it. Grant that login access to the child account and connect again.
The list is empty or missing an account
The Google account you signed in with has no access to it. Add that account in Google Ads under Admin, then Access and security, and reconnect.
Will Blackbox change my campaigns?
Only with your approval. Every budget change, pause or new campaign is proposed in Blackbox and waits for you to apply it.
Do I need to reconnect every few weeks?
No. Google issues long-lived access, so the connection keeps refreshing on its own. You will only be asked again if you revoke it or change your Google password.
How do I disconnect later?
Open Data in Blackbox, find the connector and choose Disconnect. Blackbox hands the access back to Google at the same time, so it disappears from your connected apps there too. Your existing reports stay.
