How to pause or stop Facebook ads, and see how they’re doing

To pause or stop Facebook ads and see how they are doing in Blackbox (blackbox.plus), open your brand in the Inbox and click the Campaign tab. Summary shows what you spent, your results, the cost per result and the click rate for the last 7, 30 or 90 days, with spend and results per day. Click Campaigns for every campaign with its status, budget, spend and results. Click a campaign to see its last four weeks and its ad sets. Pause stops it on Meta Ads straight away and Resume starts it again; nothing is deleted. Edit, for admins, changes the daily budget or the countries it reaches, with Undo afterwards. To stop a campaign for good, click Delete campaign…, type its name and confirm: its ad sets and ads go with it, and Pause instead is offered while it is still running. Pause works for anyone with access to the brand.

Good to know

  • Pause and Resume take effect on your live ad account right away. Pausing stops spend and keeps everything.
  • Edit and Delete are for admins, and work on Meta Ads campaigns today. Pause and Resume work on every connected ad platform.
  • A budget can change from a tenth to 5 times today’s in one go, and never below $1 a day. A lifetime budget, or one set on the ad sets, is changed in Ads Manager.
  • Deleting takes the campaign’s ad sets and ads with it and can’t be undone. While it is running, Pause instead is offered in the same box.
  • A campaign with an open suggestion shows it under its row, with Approve ✓. For what those cards mean, see Facebook ads optimization: act on budget and pause suggestions.
  • Export CSV on the Summary downloads the numbers for the range you picked.

If something doesn't work

A campaign says Not delivering yet

It is on, but has spent nothing yet. New campaigns often take a day; otherwise check its ads and audience in Ads Manager.

There’s no Edit or Delete on a campaign

Only admins can edit or delete, and only Meta Ads campaigns that are running or paused. Ask an admin, or pause it instead.

It says This campaign has a lifetime budget

Blackbox changes daily budgets only. Change a lifetime budget, or one set on the ad sets, in Meta Ads Manager.

The Delete campaign button stays grey

Type the campaign’s name exactly as shown, with the same capitals and spaces.

A campaign I made in Ads Manager isn’t here

Click Refresh on the Campaigns view. If it still doesn’t show, check its ad account is picked for this brand on the Data page.
