See how your Instagram posts are doing

Instagram analytics in Blackbox: reach, engagement, followers and your top posts over 7, 30 or 90 days, and how each post compares with your usual.

About 3 minutes 5 steps Updated

Short answer

To see how your Instagram posts are doing in Blackbox (blackbox.plus), connect Instagram, then click Inbox in the left menu, open your brand and choose the Organic tab. Summary shows the last 7, 30 or 90 days against the period before: posts, followers, reach, engagements, reactions, comments, engagement rate and impressions, with charts of followers and engagements per day and your top five posts. The Posts tab lists every post with its reach, its views for reels or impressions for other posts, and its engagements, and labels it above usual, about usual or a share of usual — compared with this account's own typical post, not an industry average. A post from the last 7 days is too new to compare. Posts made anywhere count, and ones from Studio are marked made in studio. Numbers refresh about every hour, and TikTok accounts appear alongside in a By channel table.

Before you start

Instagram connected

See Connect your Instagram account to Blackbox. TikTok works the same way.

Some posts out

Posts from anywhere count, not just Studio. A post is compared with your usual once it is a week old.

How to see how your Instagram posts are doing in Blackbox

  1. 01

    Open the Organic tab

Click Inbox in the left menu, open your brand, and choose the Organic tab. Summary is the overview; Posts lists every post.

  2. 02

    Pick a time range

Choose Last 7 days, Last 30 days or Last 90 days. Each number is compared with the period before, and the header says how recent the data is.

  3. 03

    Read the overview

The tiles show Posts, Followers, Reach, Engagements, Reactions, Comments, Engagement rate and Impressions, with charts of followers and engagements per day. Top 5 posts shows what did best; click one to see it.

  4. 04

    Look post by post

Open Posts. Each row shows the post’s reach, its views (for reels) or impressions, and its engagements, plus a label: above usual, about usual, or a share of usual. Posts from Studio are marked made in studio.

  5. 05

    Compare accounts

With more than one account connected, a By channel table puts Instagram and TikTok side by side.

Good to know

  • Numbers refresh about every hour; each account has its own as of date.
  • A post from the last 7 days says too new — there is not enough to compare yet.
  • Usual means this account’s own typical post, not an industry average.
  • The same numbers can go on a dashboard (Dashboards in the left menu) to share with a client.

Questions people ask

When do my numbers appear?
Your last 30 days start loading within minutes of connecting. After that, numbers refresh about every hour.
Why does a post say too new?
It went out in the last 7 days, which is too soon to compare with your usual. Check back in a few days.
Do posts I made outside Blackbox count?
Yes. Every published post and reel on the connected account is read, wherever you posted it from. The ones from Studio are marked made in studio.
It says to connect Instagram or TikTok
No organic account is connected for this brand yet. Click Connect on the Data page and follow Connect your Instagram account to Blackbox.
What do I do with this?
Make more of what is above usual. The Inbox does the comparing for you and suggests it — see Act on the Inbox’s suggestions.
